Since its arrival on the scene in 1996, the Lotus Elise has been hailed as the ultimate affordable sports car. To some, it is untouchable - regardless of price - in terms of its purity of design and the way it delivers driving enjoyment regardless of the driver's talent. Review: 2003 Perodua Kelisa review - 2003 Perodua Kelisa (EXi)
Let's get the obvious out of the way. The Perodua Kelisa has zero street credibility. No, make that negative. Its name sounds terrible in the English language, and very few people will have heard of it, never mind have the ability to pronounce it correctly (Per-odd-you-a). It looks like an ugly copy of the previous generation Nissan Micra with skinny pressed steel wheels. Now that's out of the way, forget all your preconceptions and take the Kelisa for a test drive.

With the Sunday Times Motor Show Live nearly upon us more details are being released about the attractions available. One of these will be the taster test drive feature where prospective customers and joy riders alike will be allowed brief drives around a designated area in certain manufacturer's cars (these include Honda, Subaru and MG). Tickets are on sale now at £16 for an adult. The Car Enthusiast will be attending the show to bring you all the news.

Snippet: VW Phaeton range grows - 2004 Volkswagen Phaeton LWB
VW quite literally extended the Phaeton range this week when it launched a long wheelbase version of its luxury saloon. With an additional 120 mm between the axles, the LWB version is said to offer class-leading levels of interior space. Along with the chassis changes VW also now offer the 4.2-litre V8 and 5.0 V10 TDi engines, effectively doubling the number of variants in the range. Prices for the LWB model start at £54,265.
